Class Descriptions
Instructor - Bob Minchella
Bob has been involved with dog obedience and competition for over 30 years, and has been a professional dog trainer since 1986. He has trained in the United States, Canada and Germany with world renowned trainers and behaviorists. In addition to participating in dog obedience competitions across the country, Bob has trained dogs to assist handicapped individuals and has conducted seminars throughout the Northeast. Puppy/Basic
Any age dog. Must be friendly, because there are a lot of opportunities to socialize! Sit, Stay, Heel, Down and Come are just a few of the new skills your puppy will learn in this fun class!
Basic
For dogs 6 months and older. Same basic commands as those taught in the Puppy/Basic Workshop but in a more controlled environment.
Advanced I
Lose the leash! Based on the AKC/CKC Companion Dog Title, this workshop is designed to transition your dog from "on lead" skill to "off lead" skills and is a great preparation for CGC, countless social opportunities and taking your dog to the family picnic!
Advanced II
(Offered on a rotating basis.) This workshop is geared primarily for those who want to take their dog's skills to the next level or wish to compete in obedience, agility, etc.. Learn how to heel backwards, agility with over $2,000 worth of equipment, Rally-O, and a host of competition style training tools. All in a 2,000 sq. ft. air conditioned training facility!
Simply Agility
A great way to keep you and your dog active during the hot days of summer and the cold days of winter here in upstate NY! Learn beginner to intermediate agility work: A-frame, tunnel, chute (closed-end tunnel), weave poles, teeter, dog walk, jumps and more! Each dog/handler team goes at their own pace - helps your dog build confidence, AND helps you to bond with your best friend. Much fun in a relaxed atmosphere!
Tricks and Games
(Offered on a rotating basis.) Come on in for this 4 week workshop and teach your dog tricks like Weave Legs, Sit Pretty, Twirl, Rollover and much more! Saturdays at 1PM.
Tracking
(Offered 2 times yearly.) Come join us for 3 weekends in Spring and Fall for this instinctually fun and gratifying seminar, held at Northampton Park. You and your dog will learn to find and indicate scents and articles, all in a fun and relaxed outdoor environment- held rain or shine!
Well Mannered Leash Walking
(Offered as weather permits.) A one day seminar where you and your dog will learn a variety of different techniques and equipment, such as a Sporn harness, Gentle Leader, Easy Walk harness and more, so that you and your dog can learn to enjoy your walks together- city walk included!
Nosework
(Offered on a rotating basis.) Come learn the exciting sport of Nosework! Your dog will learn to use his nose to detect 3 specific scents (we will start with Birch) in all types of different environments, indoors and outdoors. A totally fun and rewarding experience for both you and your dog!
